2nd Annual Great Women of Gaming Conference Sheds Light on issues PDF Print E-mail

The high-stakes world of gaming is one that has traditionally been dominated by men. Speaking on that point, Brooke Dunn, President of the Association of Gaming Equipment Manufacturers said, “Diversity is an important facet in any industry, and AGEM is proud to recognize its place in gaming. Through our support of the Great Women in Gaming event, we signify our commitment to the continued advancement of a diverse and thriving gaming industry.”It is in that spirit that the 2nd annual Great Women of Gaming Conference will address pressing issues facing women in the gaming industry as well as highlight 10 outstanding women who have made a positive impact on the industry.

 

The 2008 Great Women of Gaming Conference takes place April 6-7 at the Green Valley Ranch Resort Spa and Casino in Las Vegas. The conference features a series of seminars, two keynote addresses, and a unique new teambuilding session. The first keynote will be delivered by Marilyn Sherman, owner of Upfront Presentations, who will inspire attendees to get out of their comfort zones and achieve the success they desire.Punam Mathur, MGM Mirage Sr. VP of Corporate Diversity & Community Affairs, moderates a panel discussion in the second keynote address that will examine the returns on investment in developing a diversity program in your organization that will improve corporate image, enhance productivity, create greater job satisfaction and improve employee retention.

 

In a special engagement, Las Vegas-based fitness and wellness expert Dann Soloman will lead a limited group of participants through an uplifting and invigorating experience combining drumming on a stability ball and music called DRUM FIRE™.Session topics include issues facing women in a male-dominated industry; mentoring, inspiration and life balance; gaming business trends, a woman’s perspective; and financial management and independence for women.

 

The conference culminates with an awards ceremony banquet honoring five women selected as 2007’s Proven Leaders and five selected as Rising Stars. Nominations are currently being accepted for the awards; submission deadline is February 29. The conference is $695, which includes conference registration, one ticket to the Awards Ceremony, Banquet & Gala, and one ticket to the Cocktail Welcome Reception.
